Charcoal is the new black

Whoever said orange is the new black, hasn’t met the newest skin saviour on the block…charcoal. Mr charcoal may be messy babes but he will leave you glowing. Charcoal is new to the beauty scene and works well with bentonite clay to draw out impurities. Coconut oil is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral – so great at killing any bacteria that could be causing break outs – and it hydrates as well.

Ingredients:

½ teaspoon activated charcoal (readily available at health shops)

½ teaspoon bentonite clay (readily available at health shops)

  1 teaspoon coconut oil

1 teaspoon water (filtered is best)

Makes:  one treatment

How long it lasts: Whip it up fresh each time you use it babe!

Time it takes to blend & glow: 15 minutes

How to blend & glow:

1. Mix the charcoal powder with the bentonite clay in a small bowl.

2. Mix in the coconut oil (softened/melted) and water.

3. Apply to a clean face, allow the mask to dry (about 10 minutes) and then remove with a facecloth.

Twists you should try:

Add 1 teaspoon of honey (Manuka is best) or olive oil if your face is particularly dry

Top tips for blend yourself beauty success:

Try to avoid using any metal objects to mix the mask in, as both activated charcoal and bentonite clay will draw out the metals. It’s messy so be careful not to get it on your favourite top.
